Safety and the Law
Obey Traffic Laws: Always adhere to the Rules of the Road (such as observing traffic lights and stop signs). Jumping red lights is universally unacceptable.
Required Gear: Helmets must be worn on all club rides, and bikes must be fully roadworthy and equipped with working lights in low-light conditions.
Group Etiquette: Follow the ride leader's instructions, ride predictably, and know common hand signals and verbal warnings (e.g., "Car up," "Hole").
Respect and Courtesy
Respect All Road Users: Treat fellow cyclists, pedestrians, and motorists with courtesy. Avoid aggressive behavior or offensive language.
Zero-Tolerance for Harassment: Provide a safe, inclusive environment completely free from bullying, lies, rumours, discrimination, or sexual harassment.
Inclusivity and In-Group Support
No Drop Policy: Ensure newer or slower riders are not left behind. The group should wait at designated points to regroup.
Assist Others: Help fellow cyclists with mechanical issues (like flats) or minor health concerns during a ride.
Integrity and Fair Play
Respect Each Other: Members should respect each other and the coaches and maintain the principles of fair play and honesty. Give each other support both when things go right and when they might go wrong.
Club Representation: Members should avoid any conduct that brings the cycling club into disrepute, whether racing or representing the club in the community.
